Each month over 850,000 people turn to food banks for help; more than one-third are children and youth.*
ThankFULL with Dignity
There is a growing number of rural communities in Canada who do not have a reliable access to quality nutritious food. The greatest challenges faced by rural food banks are the high cost of storage and transportation. A digital food bank does not only eliminates these obstacles, it also allows individuals to shop freely in local markets without getting stigmatized.
Shahid Afridi Foundation Canada is currently in the process of developing a digital food bank application which will provide food stamps to qualified families and individuals, allowing them to meet their basic nutrition needs at collaborating stores across Canada.
